Potential USA Sweep in 1500 Speed Skate

4:15 PM PST - Speed Skating
The first medal at stake tonight is the men's 1500 meter speed skate. I'm predicting a clean sweep for the USA team, which would be a huge lift for Zach Chromiak's Banker's Club. Asshole Shani Davis, skating in the dinal heat, is the overwhelming favorite and I think he'll take gold. Davis declined to take part in the team event, preferring only individual medals.

Chad Hedrick, who took the bronze at Turin, is my pick for silver. Although he's lost too much endurance in his 30s to still be a top distance skater, that won't be an issue at the 1000 where Hedrick is still outstanding. He held the world record before it was broken by Davis.
I think Trevor Marsicano will take the bronze. Although he's better at the 1000, he took silver in this event at last year's World Championships. Also he hails from a town called Ballston Spa, New York.

Canadian Denny Morrison (Dave Spence/Paragons) is expected to medal as a hometown favorite from British Columbia, but I think he'll have to wait for the 1000. Italian Enrico Fabris (Brian Schwartz/Nordique Combined) is another threat to medal.
