Intolerable Kunka Should Get Alpine Gold

Ellis Kunka, whose USA Alpine team already owns an unbelievable six medals in four events thus far, should get another gold from Lindsay Vonn in the women's Super G.

Having watched the Men's Super G, I can report that the course appeared to be completely indistinguishable from the downhill. This means that not only would I fall, and spectacularly, I also would pick the same person to win both races.
American Julia Mancuso also has a chance to medal, but I just can't pick her to medal because I can't fathom the thought that such an underhanded, unethical team manager would at that point have more than half the medals in a sport.

Maria Riesch of Germany (undrafted), gold medalist in the combined, is my pick for silver. How did German alpine skiing not get drafted? I'm looking at you, Dave Spence. Somehow Croatia's basketball prowess hasn't carried over to the incredibly similar sport of downhill skiing.

Anja Paerson of Sweden (Adam Claus/Ice Lugers) is my choice for bronze. Paerson is a contender for "Best Crash" but my vote still goes to Korean Short Track.

  1. Hey now, hold up. For the record, Croatia won four gold medals and three silver medals in the previous two winter olympics, while Germany only took away 1 bronze total. So while the magic may not continue for Croatia this year, I felt all the hard work they poured into making a name for themselves in this distinguished sport needed to be defended.
