Cornballers Roster

Manager: Ellis Kunka

Round 1 Pick 9: Netherlands Speed Skating
Round 2 Pick 1: USA Alpine Skiing
Round 3 Pick 9: China Short Track Speed Skating
Round 4 Pick 1: Austria Luge
Round 5 Pick 9: Canada Figure Skating
Round 6 Pick 1: Italy Cross Country Skiing
Round 7 Pick 9: France Nordic Combined
Round 8 Pick 1: Finland Ice Hockey
Round 9 Pick 9: China Freestyle Skiing
Round 10 Pick 1: Sweden Curling
Round 11 Pick 9: Bulgaria Biathlon
Round 12 Pick 1: Poland Ski Jumping
Round 13 Pick 9: Korea Bobsleigh
Round 14 Pick 1: Austria Skeleton
Round 15 Pick 9: Italy Snowboarding

Analysis: This is a very deep and talented squad, Vonn injury or not. Manager Ellis Kunka got the last pick in the pivotal first round, but he made the most of it with Netherlands Speed Skating, the top team in a 100 point sport. USA Alpine and China Short Track are each the second best teams in major sports as well. I also like the Canada figure skating pick. Take the home team in a judged sport plagued by scandals. Finland Ice Hockey is a great value pick in Round 8, with a chance to medal on both the men's and women's side.

Cornballers used a very similar strategy to Da Nang Dynamos by emphasizing the 100 point sports. By the end, Cornballers had to settle for squads like Korea Bobsleigh and Austria Skeleton that are quite unlikely to medal. But they could have enough points in the big events that it won't matter. Still, unless Finland pulls off the hockey gold, I think draft position will doom this solid team to a #3 or #4 finish.

Olympic Ring Worm Wood Stock Market District Attorney Roster

Manager: Joy Sadaly

Round 1 Pick 8: Canada Skeleton
Round 2 Pick 2: Russia Biathlon
Round 3 Pick 8: Switzerland Alpine Skiing
Round 4 Pick 2: China Speed Skating
Round 5 Pick 8: Canada Snowboarding
Round 6 Pick 2: Czech Republic Cross Country Skiing
Round 7 Pick 8: Canada Luge
Round 8 Pick 2: Switzerland Nordic Combined
Round 9 Pick 8: Ukraine Figure Skating
Round 10 Pick 2: Switzerland Freestyle Skiing
Round 11 Pick 8: Latvia Bobsleigh
Round 12 Pick 2: Russia Ski Jumping
Round 13 Pick 8: Great Britain Short Track Speed Skating
Round 14 Pick 2: Austria Curling
Round 15 Pick 8: Belarus Hockey

Analysis: I don't expect to need to post this obnoxiously long team name too often in medal results. Although Canada Skeleton is the top team in their sport, I am pretty sure manager Joy Sadaly made that pick because Skeleton is a really cool sounding event. Russia Biathlon, though a solid squad, is hardly dominant and probably would have been there in Round 4. Speaking of Round 4, China Speed Skating is a head-scratcher there. Switzerland Alpine is a solid bet for some points in Round 3.

While Olympic Ring... got back on track with mid-round picks of Canada Snowboarding and Czech Cross Country, they quickly lost their way again. Perhaps this manager should have spent less time thinking of a long team name and more time choosing a curling team that's actually competing at Vancouver.

Fightin' Ovechkins Roster

Manager: Tim Lavoie

Round 1 Pick 7 - USA Snowboarding
Round 2 Pick 3 - Russia Ice Hockey
Round 3 Pick 7 - USA Figure Skating
Round 4 Pick 3 - Finland Cross Country Skiing
Round 5 Pick 7 - Italy Alpine Skiing
Round 6 Pick 3 - Canada Bobsleigh
Round 7 Pick 7 - Germany Skeleton
Round 8 Pick 3 - Czech Republic Speed Skating
Round 9 Pick 7 - USA Curling
Round 10 Pick 3 - Switzerland Ski Jumping
Round 11 Pick 7 - Japan Short Track Speed Skating
Round 12 Pick 3 - USA Biathlon
Round 13 Pick 7 - Norway Freestyle Skiing
Round 14 Pick 3 - Switzerland Luge
Round 15 Pick 7 - Japan Nordic Combined

Analysis: Without some big point value gold medals from Russia Ice Hockey and USA Figure Skating, this team could fall flat on its face. Manager Tim Lavoie has staked more of his team's success on ice dancing judges than one might prefer.

USA Snowboarding is a strong first round pick, but I don't like the choice of Russian hockey at 2. The much-heralded Russian men lack defense and the women have little chance to medal at all. Lavoie is counting on USA Figure Skating for multiple medals while I see them winning one gold at most. We won't even talk about Ovechkins' speed skating squads.

Fightin' Ovechkins did get off some good picks in the later rounds with Germany Skeleton in Round 7, Switzerland Ski Jumping in Round 10, and Norway Freestyle Skiing in Round 13. Too little, too late.

Ice Lugers Roster

Manager: Adam Claus

Round 1 Pick 6 - Canada Curling
Round 2 Pick 4 - Germany Biathlon
Round 3 Pick 6 - Finland Nordic Combined
Round 4 Pick 4 - USA Skeleton
Round 5 Pick 6 - Sweden Alpine Skiing
Round 6 Pick 4 - France Snowboarding
Round 7 Pick 6 - Czech Republic Ice Hockey
Round 8 Pick 4 - Canada Freestyle Skiing
Round 9 Pick 6 - Russia Luge
Round 10 Pick 4 - Norway Ski Jumping
Round 11 Pick 6 - France Figure Skating
Round 12 Pick 4 - Russia Speed Skating
Round 13 Pick 6 - Bulgaria Short Track Speed Skating
Round 14 Pick 4 - Great Britain Bobsleigh
Round 15 Pick 6 - Germany Cross Country Skiing

Analysis: Manager Adam Claus took the first minor sport team off the board with Canada's curling squad, a solid pick which will probably net him 50 points. The German biathlon team, the top squad in that sport, is a steal even as a Round 2 pick. Finland is another solid pick for Nordic combined.

This team also had some great value picks mid-draft. France Snowboarding in round 6 and Canada Freestyle Skiing in round 8 are complete steals, both squads that could lead their sport in medals. I also like Norway Ski Jumping as a value pick in Round 10.

However, Ice Lugers' strategy of taking minor sport teams early could backfire as this team drafted its short track, speed skating, cross country skiing and figure skatingteams during the last five rounds. That's a lot of points off the board. They could claim a title but a huge 50 point Czech ice hockey gold might be necessary.

Banker's Club Roster

Manager: Zach Chromiak

Round 1 Pick 4 - Norway Cross Country Skiing
Round 2 Pick 6 - Germany Bobsleigh
Round 3 Pick 4 - USA Speed Skating
Round 4 Pick 6 - Austria Nordic Combined
Round 5 Pick 4 - Italy Luge
Round 6 Pick 6 - Germany Ski Jumping
Round 7 Pick 4 - France Biathlon
Round 8 Pick 6 - Japan Figure Skating
Round 9 Pick 4 - Great Britain Curling
Round 10 Pick 6 - Sweden Freestyle Skiing
Round 11 Pick 4 - France Alpine Skiing
Round 12 Pick 6 - Italy Skeleton
Round 13 Pick 4 - Italy Short Track Speed Skating
Round 14 Pick 6 - Australia Snowboarding
Round 15 Pick 4 - Switzerland Ice Hockey

Analysis: Manager Zach Chromiak was quite excited about this roster, but I just don't see it. Norway Cross Country and German Bobsleigh are the top teams in their sports. USA Speed Skating is arguably the top speed skating squad as well. However, I don't understand many of Mr. Chromiak's other picks. Was he taking the best Winter Olympic teams, or the world's top economies? Did he think the skiing is at Val D'Isere?

I would rank this squad as the worst I've profiled so far. Of course, that's why they play the Games.

Buck-Toothed Rabbit Bitches Roster

Manager: Brittany B.

Round 1 Pick 3 - Austria Alpine Skiing
Round 2 Pick 7 - USA Bobsleigh
Round 3 Pick 3 - Austria Ski Jumping
Round 4 Pick 7 - USA Short Track Speed Skating
Round 5 Pick 3 - USA Nordic Combined
Round 6 Pick 7 - Austria Freestyle Skiing
Round 7 Pick 3 - Korea Speed Skating
Round 8 Pick 7 - Austria Snowboarding
Round 9 Pick 3 - Norway Curling
Round 10 Pick 7 - Poland Cross Country Skiing
Round 11 Pick 3 - Slovakia Ice Hockey
Round 12 Pick 7 - Germany Figure Skating
Round 13 Pick 3 - Slovakia Biathlon
Round 14 Pick 7 - Ireland Skeleton
Round 15 Pick 3 - Slovakia Luge

Analysis: Austria Alpine Skiing is a huge first round pick, my top team on the entire board. After the Lindsey Vonn injury they're capable of getting over 100 fantasy points and will surely get 75. Austria Ski Jumping is the top team in their sport and a near lock for the team gold.

I think manager Brittany B. was looking through red, white, and blue glasses with the remainder of her top five picks - USA Bobsleigh, USA Short Track Speed Skating and USA Nordic Combined. But she recovered with the top draft of any team from picks 6 through 15 - particularly Korea Speed Skating in round 7, Germany Figure Skating in round 12, and, in my pick for steal of the draft, Poland Cross Country Skiing in round 10. Overall, a strong and deep team that could take the title if there are some upsets in hockey.

Da Nang Dynamos Roster

Manager: John Binz

Round 1 Pick 2 - Korea Short Track Speed Skating
Round 2 Pick 8 - China Figure Skating
Round 3 Pick 2 - Norway Biathlon
Round 4 Pick 8 - Russia Cross Country Skiing
Round 5 Pick 2 - Sweden Ice Hockey
Round 6 Pick 8 - Switzerland Skeleton
Round 7 Pick 2 - Germany Speed Skating
Round 8 Pick 8 - Switzerland Curling
Round 9 Pick 2 - Australia Freestyle Skiing
Round 10 Pick 8 - USA Luge
Round 11 Pick 2 - Japan Ski Jumping
Round 12 Pick 8 - Italy Bobsleigh
Round 13 Pick 2 - Russia Nordic Combined
Round 14 Pick 8 - Germany Snowboarding
Round 15 Pick 2 - Norway Alpine Skiing

Analysis: Helped by good fortune in getting pick 2, John Binz has put together a very strong roster here. Da Nang Dynamos came out of the gate with five picks in the 100 point sports. Korea's Short Track team is one of the few totally dominant programs in a sport and should earn this team 75 points at a minimum. Norway is one of the top two Biathlon programs and should score another 50. German Speed Skating is a steal in Round 7.

I think this team is likely to finish in the top 4 regardless, but will need some big point medals from Sweden Ice Hockey (50 points per gold) and China Figure Skating (25 per gold) to win.

Paragons Roster

Manager: David Spence

Round 1 Pick 1 - Russia Figure Skating
Round 2 Pick 9 - USA Ice Hockey
Round 3 Pick 1 - Switzerland Snowboarding
Round 4 Pick 9 - Germany Nordic Combined
Round 5 Pick 1 - Canada Short Track
Round 6 Pick 9 - Canada Speed Skating
Round 7 Pick 1 - Croatia Alpine Skiing
Round 8 Pick 9 - Great Britain Skeleton
Round 9 Pick 1 - Finland Ski Jumping
Round 10 Pick 9 - Sweden Biathlon
Round 11 Pick 1 - Germany Curling
Round 12 Pick 9 - Estonia Cross Country Skiing
Round 13 Pick 1 - Russia Bobsleigh
Round 14 Pick 9 - Latvia Luge
Round 15 Pick 1 - Finland Freestyle Skiing

Analysis: This is another deep team, capable of scoring fantasy picks with as many as 12 or 13 of these picks. But like Nordique Combined, Paragons cannot succeed without a good showing by USA Hockey. USA Hockey, while arguably not quite as strong as Canada, is a virtual lock for silver or gold on the women's side and a strong contender for men's as well - one of the few potential 100 point teams in any sport.

Manager Dave Spence recovered from a dubious first round choice with some good later picks. Both of Canada's speed skating teams were good picks at those slots - I had them ranked third in the world. Finland freestyle skiing is a great value pick, the top pick of round 15, adn Russia Bobsleigh is a good round 13 pick too.

Nordique Combined Roster

Manager: Brian Schwartz

Round 1 Pick 5 - Canada Ice HockeyRound 2 Pick 5 - Germany Luge
Round 3 Pick 5 - Sweden Cross Country Skiing
Round 4 Pick 5 - USA Freestyle Skiing
Round 5 Pick 5 - Korea Figure Skating
Round 6 Pick 5 - Norway Nordic Combined
Round 7 Pick 5 - China Curling
Round 8 Pick 5 - Switzerland Bobsleigh
Round 9 Pick 5 - Canada Alpine Skiing
Round 10 Pick 5 - Latvia Skeleton
Round 11 Pick 5 - Austria Biathlon
Round 12 Pick 5 - Italy Speed Skating
Round 13 Pick 5 - Norway Snowboarding
Round 14 Pick 5 - Australia Short Track Speed Skating
Round 15 Pick 5 - Slovenia Ski Jumping

Analysis: While this team is reasonably deep, Nordique Combined will live or die with Canadian hockey. They probably need the full 100 points in hockey to have a chance to win, but will be extremely tough to beat if that happens. Canada is favored in both competitions. The women's side only has one real rival, USA, but the men's side is notoriously unpredictable with eight teams probably having a chance to medal.

With his other top picks, manager Brian Schwartz opted to take stronger teams in the 50 point events. Germany Luge leads the medal count every Olympics and will probably take close to 50 points if not more. USA Freestyle Skiing is ranked first but the group is relatively wide open. Norway Nordic Combined is the second best team in its namesake event, and China Curling is a virtual lock to get at least silver in the women's competition. Sweden Cross Country is also a top team and could be a big point scorer.

More rosters and stuff will be posted tomorrow.
